french dresser { before and after} & {a heat wave}

This American, privileged, Bama girl will try, really, really hard, not to EVER take for granted the luxury of having a working air conditioner. Ours went out last night. By 10 am this morning my house was well into the upper 90′s possibly even 100′s. My thermostat couldn’t even read it. My kids were walking around in their underwear, red-cheeked and sweaty, and I had on a tank top and my husbands boxer shorts, NO KIDDING. We couldn’t go anywhere because we had to wait out that window of time when the AC guy would be here. I am thankful that he put us on his schedule and worked extra late for us tonight, but he was here until almost 9 trying to get it running for us. I am telling you, it was misery. I found myself not being able to think clearly, again, NOT KIDDING. I don’t know how people function in this heat with no air, and people do it, everyday because they have to. Grateful is what I am tonight. We are still really hot, but at least it is in the upper 80′s and not upper 90′s. We should be cooled off by morning.
I got so excited to show you my french dresser on Monday, I forgot to post the before shots. I thought you may want to see what this looked like before I painted it just in case you see one like it while you are out thrifting. If you do, snag it!

Hoping tomorrow will be a better day for productivity. Thank you Jesus for my AC!

  1. I’ve said at least a dozen times this week that I am SO glad I’m not Amish. We’ve had our air conditioner running around the clock and I’m dreading our next electric bill.

    I’m glad you got yours fixed – it’s amazing how doing without something really makes us appreciate it that much more! I suppose it’s good to do without every so often, just to remind us of how much we have to be grateful for…but I’ll try to take your experience and be grateful, because I sure wouldn’t want to go without like you did!

  4. I see this all time but never pick them up because I’m always at a loss for what to do with them! Are you going to post a tutorial on this piece? This is my favorite piece you’ve ever done!

      Thanks girl! Yes, I am actually working on a video. I’m new to all of the editing so its taking me a little while, but I will post it soon.

    That dresser is simply beautiful….I would be hard pressed to even say that the before and after pics are of the same dresser! I love, love, love this piece and can NOT wait for the video! Many, many thanks for sharing.

  6. Truly appreciate your talent, humor and humility, Kelli…

    Looking forward to the tutorial video, as the dresser is so elegant. Nice example of classic-meets-contemporary styling… kudos!

    Beautifully done , how did you get that finish on hardware? I just bought a Bombay chest and matching nightstand that I intend to repaint but can’t decide on how to go about painting it, is either white or metallic silver or grey, I have other white furniture around the chest is going tone by front door and nightstand in bedroom so they dont have to match, any ideas? Thank you.
