RESTORED IT WEDNESDAY

I can’t pull a favorite from last week, because it wouldn’t be fair. Although, you guys have linked up some amazing chalk paint projects! I am impressed!  If you are just joining us, my friend Stacey who owns Faux Studio Designs, is hosting a chalkpaint contest on my blog. You can find all the details on how to enter here.

So in lieu of showing off a favorite, I  thought I would show you a piece I worked on this week. My 11 year old is an aspiring Marine Biologist. She has it all planned out. She was ready to get rid of her little girl pink…*insert sniffle*…… and go for a more “teen” look. She loves blue, anything to do with the ocean and wanted to live around fish in her room. She begged me to do an under the sea mural. After a big fat N-O,  I convinced her that her nice, lovely, neutral walls would remind her of sand and would have a much calmer effect on her. I also promised her a fish.

Our starting point last week was this adorable pillow from pottery barn teen. I ordered it and it came right away. I couldn’t pay the arm AND the leg for the bedding that went with it, especially because she has such severe eczema, and we struggle with keeping our bedding blood free. TMI for some of you….I am sure.

Anyway….. I took the pillow to target and found some PRECIOUS matching bedding.

When we get further along in the room, I will post some pictures, but for now here is her side table makeover.

This table belonged to my husbands grandmother. My sis in law gave it to me years ago because a plant had ruined the top and it needed to be refinished. I painted it instead. Over the past 10 years it’s been a lot of different colors and today it’s ocean blue.

I used Louise Blue chalk paint and added the craft paint color Hawaii. I think it was deco craft paint…not sure. I emptied the entire contents of the small bottle in about 1 and a half cups of Louise blue. It gave me the most beautiful ocean blue and baby girl was pleased. I painted the hardware old white and I am still on the hunt for where I stored the feet….They are in my mess somewhere downstairs, but they will be painted white as well.

So what have you been up to? I can’t wait to see what your creative juices have inspired you to do this week. Grab a button and link up something you have made look better than it did before!
Don’t forget about the chalk paint contest!!
