Over at Miss Mustard Seed, Marian initiated a “copy me” challenge to all of her readers. I immediately decided I wanted to play. Marian has been a really great friend and has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me out as a new blogger. I took my keeping room off of my kitchen and decided to give it an MMS makeover. I started by taking an 8.00 round drum table that I found at a yard sale and painted it her favorite “Creamy” by Sherwin Williams. I have never used this color before but it is a fantastic white. I gave the top a coat of walnut stain and used her “special glaze formula” of Ralph Lauren mixed with Espresso beans to glaze the table.
My parsons chair is slip covered in a drop cloth canvas, and believe it or not, these are the EXACT same parsons chairs she recently recovered that looked like dentist office chairs before the slip.
I love that she loves ironstone because I have been collecting this for a long time. I love it mixed with a little transferware. I love that she takes free and natural elements and puts them to use in her decor such as starfish and pine cones. God’s creation is the most beautiful decor.
I also tried to emulate her signature white trim on the slip cover I finished for my couch. It gives it a nice contrast. MMS also loves to decorate with old photos. I pulled an old frame with a picture of my grandaddy out and displayed it on my table vignette!
Marian, I hope I did you proud! Thanks for all the advice, tips and help! This was a ton of fun! I like how this turned out so much, I think I am going to keep it this way!
