DIY Headboard Idea { and a great big THANK YOU}

First of all, I just have to say, you guys ROCK!! You all blew my socks off at the outpouring of love for my sweet friend Summer and for Donna’s niece Cindy. Thank you. I love this niche of DIY’ers. We are family, and I love that when we face adversity, we stand with each other. That is what family’s do right? Thank you for your continued prayers, especially this week as Summer has major surgery on August 27th. I will give you an update on how that goes as soon as I know something.

Last week I began to try and finish up the nagging projects in my master bedroom. I thought you might be interested in seeing the before picture too! Are these curtains not the ugliest things you have ever seen??

I am so ready to call it “done”. But will it really ever be done? I can’t leave things alone! Ha Ha! Am I the only one like that? It drives my mom bananas. She comes over just about everyday to see things in a different place. I like change, what can I say?

My budget friendly DIY headboard idea is turning out great. Thank you to all of you who gave me ideas on the Facebook page. It helped me brainstorm. It started off looking like this, and has evolved from there.

Ikea photo frames

I had purchased 9 ikea frames a while back and decided to fill them with black and whites. I have one kid on the left, one kid on the right and pictures of Les and I in the middle. After putting up all nine, I decided it wasn’t enough and went for 20! I love some drama.

I am still collecting pictures and I ran out of frames. I wanted to see if I could ask for your help. I need 11 more white frames that have mats and hold 4×6 pictures. They are from IKEA and they are called Virserum.

Are any of you going to be going to IKEA sometime soon? I wish we had a store in Birmingham but the closest one to me is in Atlanta. I wanted to see if one of you could pick these up for me and ship them to me. I would be FOREVER grateful and it would help me finish this up before the year. I am not sure when I will get back to the ATL.
Y’all ar AWESOME! So many of you have volunteered to get these for me! Sweet Jodi from my city, whom I have never met, is getting them for me. We live about 5 minutes from each other so it worked out perfectly. Thanks to all of you for being willing!!

Today, I going to try and finish up the large pillow for the back of the bed. In the picture above you can see the beautiful ikat fabric I chose. In the picture it is just draped over some euros. I really want to make it large enough where it creates the illusion of an upholstered headboard.

Happy Tuesday! Come back in the morning to link up your projects to Restored It Wednesday. This is the week we will switch over to morning posts, depending on how long feed burner takes to deliver it to your inbox.

    Hi, I’m planning a trip to ATL for a wedding Labor Day week-end. I had already planned to spend several hours wandering around IKEA, so I would be happy to pick them up for you. I live in Vestavia.

  2. So glad you got rid of those blue curtains. ๐Ÿ™‚
    How do you keep the photos from shifting or falling off of the walls? Are they screwed in on the top and bottom?

  3. I live five minutes from IKEA and I’d be happy to pick them up and ship them to you. (I live outside Philadephia.)

  4. Loving how the room is coming together lady! And the best part? The monogrammed pillow. Sigh. Happy Wednesday! Hugs and love… -K
