FINISHED DRESSER

I painted today at Miss Jenny’s, in her sweet daughter’s room. They wanted a vintage feel with a modern twist. We worked together to come up with a custom color to match her new room perfectly.

Oh..this before picture is just awful. My flash was broken and I was shooting with my D70 that did not allow much light in to begin with. Oh well….it makes the after picture look that much better, right? As you can see, this piece was extremely dated. It has good bones though. It was a perfect pallette to created something new and fresh.

Jenny and I worked together to create a custom look, specific to her room.  I started with a Country Gray base. Although you can’t really tell from the pictures, the detail is all done in a color called metallic taupe.  It’s really pretty. I finished the hardware in this as well.

I distressed it all over, just on the edges and then finished it with some clear wax, tinted with a little bit of dark antiquing glaze.

Y’all, I’m so tired tonight I cannot even think straight to tell you anything else. I am sure this was all a bunch of gibberish anyway. AH…. It’s thundering outside……the perfect time to fall asleep. Night.

  1. Love how that turned out and I like the tip about tinting the wax with glaze! Oh and I'm jealous of your thunder. We may get gobs of rain in Oregon but VERY rarely do we get thunder and lightning. Sweet Dreams.

  5. Beautiful! Great idea to mix the wax with the glaze. I wouldn't have thought to do that! I think I will try that on my next project!

I love the look of this piece, I am painting an old secretary with brass hardware and planning to try the Annie Sloan paint. I am unable to remove the brass pieces for the keyholes. Can you give me tips for how you did this hardware?? Thanks, Tamela
