I heard back from Karen at Chalk Paint USA today. She was SO sweet. She didn’t just email me, she called me twice. She did say that the country gray is very deceiving and the online colors look different than the actual colors. She is sending me a paint chip of all the colors so that when I reorder, I will know exactly what to get. The country gray comes off as a creamy greenish hue. It is very pretty though. I waxed it with a dark brown and really like how it’s looking so far. As for the paint itself, I LOVED painting with it. It goes on very smooth and dried with no brush marks. It is very flat and chalky feeling but feels wonderful after a wax. The thing that I like most about this paint is that it distresses beautifully. It comes off like chalk and you just have to wipe the piece down afterwards. It has adhered really well so far and it does cover red bleed after two thick coats. This piece I am working on now has had the worst bleed and the chalk paint is dealing with it pretty well. I am not totally done with it for a full reveal, but here are a few shots of what I have done so far.
Is it worth the money? For me….yes…. because I despise priming and most everything I buy to repaint has to have an adhesion primer. Behr with primer in it doesn’t work for those shiny, high varnish finishes. The time it takes me to paint a piece is worth the money too, and if this saves me a few hours, its worth it.
